Triumph has announced prices and availability of its new 2012 models.

The 1215cc, three-cylinder Tiger Explorer will go on sale in late March at £11,149 on the road, while a special edition launch model with a comprehensive accessory pack will retail at £11,999. This will include adjustable touring screen, fog lights, hand guards and engine protection bars.

This compares with £10,595 for the Triumph’s direct rival, the BMW R1200GS, but the addition of ABS alone (standard on the Tiger Explorer) ramps the German bike’s price up to £11,595. The Tiger also comes with traction control and an onboard computer, which bring the BMW up to £12,055 when specified as options.

The Speed Triple R will go on sale in late February at £11,299. The stock Speed Triple is listed at £8,799 (+£600 for ABS), so the R version’s Öhlins front and rear suspension, Brembo Monobloc brakes and lighter forged aluminium wheels come at a £2,500 premium.

A launch edition additionally featuring ABS, fly screen, belly pan, gel seat and tyre pressure monitoring will also be available, at £12,499.

World first reviews of the Speed Triple R and Tiger Explorer will appear on ashonbikes on January 25 and the end of February respectively.
