MV Agusta F3 news

By Kevin Ash - 15/02/2011

These are the first pictures of the new MV Agusta F3, leaked shortly before it's officially unveiled at the Milan Show.

The 675cc triple is the first supersport machine to use a contra-rotating crank, although it's still not clear why MV has chosen to make the crank run backwards. Either this is designed to help reduce the tendency to wheelie, or a direct gearbox layout has been chosen to help make the motor as compact as possible.

A ride-by-wire throttle system is used, in conjunction with a more advanced traction control system than that fitted to the F4.

The frame is a combination of aluminium side plates with a tubular steel trellis, and MV claims the single-sided swingarm is exceptionally long, to maximise traction and wheel control.

The Marzocchi forks are paired with a Sachs rear shock, while the inevitable Brembo radial callipers are fitted.

Expect the F3 to cost around £10,000 when it goes on sale late next year.
