Vespa 946
Vespa is to make a full production version of the 46 concept bike seen at bike shows in 2012.
Called the 946, the high tech, beautifully styled scooter will be powered by Piaggio's latest three valve 125cc engine and feature ABS, traction control and lightweight aluminium body panels.
Full details with lots more pics here at ashonbikes.com on November 13.

Both are rear engined too...
This is another machine that looks even better in the metal than in the photos. I think it is quite stunning and I would certainly love to take a test ride when they arrive here and they let us out to play after the winter!
shame its £7500
how much ???? If that is indeed the case then they surely must have shot themselves in the foot. It is a great looking little machine but a 125 scooter for the price a small car is rather hard to justify on appearance.
Only 50 coming to these shores (so they say) and most were already spoken for when I enquired last November. Doesn't look outrageously dear when you consider the bespoke styling, quality, tech, exclusivity. And it's for the cognoscenti anyway, many of whom have deeper than average pockets - e.g. Weller, Sir Brad of Wiggington, that bloke out of Oasis.
Is it to be a limited production run globally, or just limited import to the UK?
No clue. The (lovely) Piaggio ladies at the UK show declined to say whether or not the 50 would eventually turn out to be … more than 50. I've just managed to add 51 of 'em to my shopping cart here, so I'm a little bit suspicious. Being as it is the solemnly sworn mission of this website to expose tacky manufacturer marketing gimmicks where'er they be lurking, I need to try and Checkout Now (cart total: £367,200). Anyone know the number of Kevin's expenses account at Coutts & Co?
I was told limited edition of 46.
I was also told that a lot of the styling cues and features could find themselves onto other models , but as shuggiemac says they have shot themselves in the foot really pricing it that way . how many orders could they have had it been reasonably priced .
and whats with traction control on a 125 scooter.take that off the price and you might have a really nice stylish usable scooter at the right price.
It is rather hard to gauge globally how many are going to be made but it does seem that it will be limited to a certain extent. Lots of countries are reporting it so I guess at least a few thousand will be made. Would be really hellish expensive if it were any less. In any case if it is restricted and it is just destined to be a showcase and a launch pad for technologies to be rolled out on subsequent models then fair enough I suppose. In that light the 946 is specifically not meant to be affordable day to day transport. It is damn nice looking though.
Even I don't know that number...
It's all a bit vague as to how many, when and so on at the moment, though I suspect in some places, especially Italy, they'll be able to sell plenty of them at that price. In fact we probably have to put up with the very high price in the UK because that's what it'll be selling for in Italy, they're simply not allowed to sell it for less elsewhere in the EU.

... that and the seat shape are actually my two favored design aspects! :-D
Will you get Suzy to go pillion again Kev, or has she now gone all F1 on you? ;-D

Gorgeous, with the possible exception of the circular silver thing beneath the seat which looks like it might have been boosted off some young lad's Max Power-ed Vauxhall Nova…
Echoes of the Tatra T87 (that's another c*r, sorry) about the rear haunches? Cf. also the shape of the new Guzzi's panniers/ comparable air of retro futurism.
No storage space at all by the looks of it (I'll burst into tears and/ or self-immolate if I ever see some cruddy old top box with great big gormless reflectors tacked onto one of these).
Bet that exhaust is still mild steel, though. Sob.
