Ferrari Still Chasing Rossi!

By Kevin Ash - 16/10/2010

Ferrari still wants Valentino Rossi! Ferrari boss Luca Montezemolo is pushing for his team to be able to enter three cars next season to accommodate Rossi.

He is specifically saying Rossi should consider swopping to four wheels because he has nothing more to prove on two.

Ferrari‘s press office chief, Luca Colajanni, told CNN: "The possibility for the major manufacturers to provide the private teams with a third car would be very effective in order to increase the appeal of Formula One. The potential involvement of such an extraordinary champion as Valentino Rossi would be even more helpful."

Current F1 rules allow only two cars per team, but Montezemolo is working hard at getting this changed to get Rossi into F1.

Rossi has repeatedly claimed in recent months that he is not interested in the move, especially as he now considers himself too old, but instead of giving up, Ferrari is redoubling its efforts to persuade him.

When Rossi drove a Ferrari at Barcelona at the beginning of this year he circulated within two tenths of Kimi Raikkonen‘s lap record, impressing Ferrari‘s team manager, Luca Baldisserri, not just with his speed but his approach: “We tried different set ups and he improved a lot - this means that the driver learns quickly and has room for improvement.”
