Pirelli Angel ST

Kevin - you can tell the guys at Pirelli that their advert has worked on at least one person. I went out yesterday and bought a new set of Angel St tyres for my ST2 and pretty much on the influence of having had the advert in my face every day on your site for the past x number of months.
.
They have a lot to live up to as they follow on from Diablo's that were great but in all honesty too quick wearing now that I am using the bike reasonably often on a daily 125 km commute.
.
The jury is out on the angel logo on the tyre but at least it's a talking point. On the other hand i feel a bit of a plonker when discussing it at times.

Just an update on the Angel ST tyres. As I am rattling on about in another thread, I have encountered some pretty wet weather recently and indeed with the so called summer that we have had, this has been the case most of the year. I can say that at no single point have I ever had any cause for concern regarding grip from the tyres in the wet, or dry, since having them fitted.
My above mentioned problem of discussing the Angel logo is now academic as it is no longer visible and in a bizarre way I kind of miss it!!!
The tyres are starting to square off a little but I am putting that down to the fact that I have changed my route to work and whilst the commute has come down to 110km daily, it is now pretty much 100% motorway/A roads with the only cornering of any note on a couple of slip roads.
There is still plenty of wear left in them and I can say that they have handled everything that I have thrown their direction. There have been long, spirited twisty roads blasts, long distance jaunts along with the above mentioned daily commute. I can recommend the tyres without hesitation should anyone here be considering them and is looking for an opinion and I shall most certainly replace them with the same.

I'll pass the message on! Hmm, I do wonder if you'll find them a great deal better though. The improvements of the Angel ST are in grip, stability and feedback, particularly wet weather grip, rather than increased mileage. Pirelli says there is some improvement in mileage but not very much, instead they concentrated on improving these other factors.
Wet weather grip is a harder thing to judge in normal commuting as most of us tend to impose our own riding limits before the tyres' ones become a factor, so you might never notice the difference. I've seen Pirelli's own figures for wet grip though, compared with Diablos and also the main rivals from Bridgestone and Dunlop, and the Angel STs are significantly better (dry grip is better too), so you'll be riding more within the tyres' limits than before.
Well I reckon the Angel logo is clever, if only because it's made one of the dullest accessories - tyres - interesting! And it reflects the sport-touring nature of the tyres too, so it helps the marketing guys, but basically it's a bit of fun, and that's quite an achievement with a tyre...
Do let us know how you get on with them anyway. I'll post a feature about the Angel STs on here at some point too.
