Two weeks ago i took the first part of the new bike test. The test centre for cornwall is at the LGV MOT test facility. There was constant heavy rain before and during the test. Before the test the examiner told me to avoid the HGV trailer laden with concrete slabs! I did the swerve test clipped a cone and bike(kwak er5) and i parted company.Cornwall hit me at 54 KPH. I have a Honda 125XL Varadero(excellent bike) and have done 2500 miles without mishap.During the time taken for the pain and bruises to subside,i have been reflecting on those people who thought it is a good idea to make new riders exceed the urban speed limit in appalling conditions and then do an emergency manouevre in an area not built for the purpose.

The whole thing is a major

The whole thing is a major scandal, and it's not just the test itself (which can mean visits to four different venues) but the booking system too, which is hopelessly inadequate now. I'll put some features about all this on the website in the next few weeks, and I do realise the New Rider section needs to be revamped and updated too!
It seems that you're far from being alone in having a mishap during the test - none of the other EC countries have felt the need to interpret the European test legislation in the way we have in the UK, although it looks as if there is going to be a Select Committee investigation into the implementation of whole test regime, which would be very welcome.
Meanwhile, I hope your bruises clear up fast, glad it wasn't any worse, and you can get your full licence soon!

Stone me, having just read

Stone me, having just read the opening post here, it is incredible that people are asked to do this. I admit I don't keep up with the new licence regulation as I passed my test nearly thirty years ago and my son is only three and won't be doing his for a while.
It beggars belief that someone is in paid public service to come up with such cretinous ideas.
