new test arrival
hey kev i know the new test is coming in march but do you know the date it changes and how soon you would have to book the das to get in before the changes come in i really dont want to be doing that :) the cost though is a big issue :)
£80 ??? now is that just for the licence after you have your cbt ?? .for all in (direct access) including the training that is, from start to finish the cheapest i could find was 500 ish with bike hire
£80 is just for the test itself. You'll have paid extra for the licence when you sent off for it, and I think you'll have to pay some more to get it altered from provisional to full after you pass. You also pay for the training, and that'll depend on your local training school - £500 is typical but it's much more if you want to do a Direct Access residential course. You might find some training schools include the price of the test in their training, some even say you won't have to pay any extra for retests if you fail first time (or second, or third... lol). But that £80 is purely to the DSA for the test, it doesn't include training or licence changes or anything else.
i think the best i have found so far for offers before the new test arrives is www.wpm-training.co.uk if you know of any better ones please tell all ,, bloody goverment aint putting me off just yet
That link looks pretty good, although in the end it's like any personal training, it always works much better if you get on well with your instructor. It's a bit of a luxury but if you can check out a few training schools and especially the instructors themselves (and be careful what you read into 'check out' Keillz...) it's worth taking how well you get on with them into account as well as price. When you're learning you're under a lot of stress and it can feel pretty dangerous sometimes too, so having full trust and a good rapport with the instructor can make a big difference.
its a little hard to really figure your trainers out if not on the course already but they have had some pretty good feedback off people that are very willing to go back for the advanced courses, sometimes liking someone and trusting them are completly different :)
iam lucky enough to get on with the majority of people i meet so hopefully this will come in handy my money however is my biggest hurdle right now and if iam ever to get on a bike have to put this first and hope for the best
lets just hope the instructor is a complete mad head or he might have a break down before he finishes with me hee hee

The scandalous litany of incompetence, vested interest and dereliction of responsibility which the government is calling the new motorcycle test (not that I'm coming at this from any particular angle, lol) doesn't start now until April 27. Confusingly the DSA says "...the new test can be booked from 30 March 2009 at the latest." I assume that means you can't book the new test until after March 30, but surely they should have said the soonest you can book it is March 30? So I imagine (and I can't be more accurate, sorry) if you book up to March 30 then you'll only get the current test, but if you book after this date you can either get a new test, or you can still book an old one before April 27 just as long as there are slots available (and they're going to be taken up pretty quickly!).
The cost of the current and the new test is the same for now at £80. The new test is split into two modules priced at £10 for module 1 (the off road riding bit), £70 for module 2 (on-the-road riding). From October 5 this year the fee goes up (again!!) to £90.50.
That do ya?
