Just been to London from Worcestershire for a day out with the kids (4) in our trusty Previa.

Why oh why do people just ignore their rear view mirror.

Ye Previa will do 90 mph on the cruise control and is no bother to any body..Six american military satellites say we are actually doing 85 miles an hour ,so are below the Association of Chief Constables informal directive for prosecution as long as we don't tailgate, drive like a twat etc.

Snuck up on a Goldwing going a few miles an hour less who good as gold,(joke) moved over in an anticipative manner and let us pass on our merry way.

But the succession of idiots who deliberately blocked our progress or are blind or stupid or chatting to their passengers or what ever has to be seen to be believed.

On a brighter note Last year 2600 people sadly died in motor related accidents.

The good news is that 27,000,000 motorists lived.

My your God bless you all

Re: Speed

Mr Bear

I thought ACPO guidelines were. Posted limit + 10% + 2mph

Statistically the safest drivers on a section of road are those travelling at
the 85th percentile of speed.

Can you sensibly run a car at 90 mph on cruise control? Even at a genuine 85 mph (5mph at 90 accurate speedo) I would have thought the level of interference on all but the quietest motorways and at quietest times made it impossible.

If your nicked for speeding the speed related constraint for offering a speed awareness course is generally. (Forces May Vary) Posted speed + 10% + 6mph. So in a 30 zone you can get on the course at 39mph or 30% over the limit. On a posted 70mph dual carriageway 83mph 18.6%. Don't know what happens viz a via motorways. Odd I always thought it was more important to religiously observe 30 limits.
