Riding in Spain
A lot of you guys already know it, but Spain is probably one of the best places in the world to ride a motorcycle.
Here is a little sample of why this is the case. This is Catalonia, running in an R1200GS, but there is fantastic riding all over Spain on any kind of bike really.

Don't mind the squashed bug on the lens... and no, I'm not eating chips! It's just that there was a plastic bag in the same pocket I put the external mic in. :-)
And there was me thinking you were indulging in that well-known french sport of snail squishing.
Oh yes, great roads indeed. Orange gloves but no KTM.....why?
Okay, you're making us all jealous but I'm getting one over on you, oh yes I am. I'm currently saddling up the SM-T for a central europe-crushing tour, with silverbrownie as pillion. I think we may pack some of RiC's, errr, inserts. Not in case of incontinence (I assure you) but to contain involuntary emissions, should we attract the unwonted attention of stray snipers in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Happy riding!
P.S. The SM-T is in for service tomorrow. I get to ride a new 690 for the day. Bummer!
Double post. Must have been all that talk of emissions....
Mr Silver Cub - coming anywhere near here on that jaunt?
Hey Cub!
No SMT because I was working... Running in a new R1200GS and bringing it from Madrid to Barcelona in the process. More than 500 mile of secondary roads, some of which we actually rode together on our way to Albarracín.
On the next day I rode another R1200GS down to Madrid on the same roads.
It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it...
It's funny you should mention a Europe crushing ride. I have one planned for this summer, all the way to Ukraine on twisties. It's not 100% yet, as my SMT will be close to 40k miles by that time and I'm a little hesitant. Let's face it, it's no honda, which is both good and bad. I would not want to get stranded in Moldovia... :-D
I'm thinking I should buy a new one... but the current economic situation means that they don't do trade-ins... and it will probably hard to sell mine.
Anyway, I hope you have a great ride! More details?
Let us know about the 690!

Hello Chaps,
Sketchy route is DB Autozug to Villach in S. Austria, thence Slovenia, N. Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia/Herz, Montenegro, Croatian coast, glass or two of Chianti with friends in Tuscany, France, Blighty. Probably too ambitious and will be guided by pillion's feedback!
Shuggie, what about meeting in Julian Alps 10/11 June? PM me if a possibility.
Ninou, what great roads they are. I'm sure I saw THAT junction in 2 or 3!!
Ukraine eh? A bunch of us toured through Hungary & Romania in 2010, right up to the Ukrainian border. Twisties = yes, offroad = yes, tarmac = hmmmm! We embraced the blacktop (Papal style) on entering Slovakia and with good reason. I'd take your SMT, what's the worst that could happen? Shame to bugger up a spanking new one!
Loved the 690. Will stick a few comments on that thread.
Cubvakia.
Have a great trip Cub!
Hey Cub, you back from your Europe crushing tour?
The weather has been nice here and I've done some more riding. Here is another example of Spanish back roads riding:

I'm uploading a few more in case anybody is interested.
Cub, when are you coming back to ride around here?
Ninou
Hi ninou. Sphincter-crushing more like!
Back yesterday, a tad short of 3 weeks, 12 contries and 4K miles.
An amazing trip, with only one stretch of road (in Montenegro of all places!) up to Spanish standards. The rest were challenging but generally for the right reasons. And some times, the slow roads were the best (article to follow, possibly).
The SM-T performed extremely well, 2-up and fully loaded. Just adjusted the rear shock as per instructions and off we went. Bizarrely, the sidestand bracket disintegrated in Italy, fortunately whilst I was saddling up at a petrol station. I won't bore you with the details but cable ties saved the day and convenient walls had to be found for parking-up!
Today life is static and curiously without purpose....
Blimey Cub that sounds like a cracking trip.
A more detailed report and some photos would be a great way to satisfy at least some of my biking blues at the moment.

Wow! Nice!
We'll be waiting for a little write-up of this adventure!
My trip to Ukraine is not happening as the organizer can't make it in the end. I'll make do with some riding in the South of France... and in various places in Spain! ;-)

I bet! But this write-up on your adventure will give it a sense of purpose... :-P
