Well I'm now looking for next bike, I currently ride a 2010 er6n
As its going to be another work horse avg 10000+ miles a year I've narrowed it down to 3 2012 bikes
2012 er6f improved but with better weather protection as I ride 12 mths a year all weather
2012 Honda hornet ????
2012 Honda nc700 ????
I've looked at the nc700 as a work horse but my concern is that it's little 47hp while great on petrol etc might be a little to boring when I do want to ride in anger / fun
The hornet a naked like I've got now so will need a wind screen etc
So back to the new er6f I like the er6n been great bike for last 2 years but I've put MRA screen on etc so I'm thinking the F version would be better suited for all weather riding but still a fun bike when I'm not using it for day to day work
Any comments welcome
Cheers Jedi

Re: New bike time

All those bikes will make great commuters. Don't disregard the NC700 until you have tried it. It's torque easily makes up for the lack of massive redline rpm if you can adapt to short-shifting. I've just posted a review of my own of the NC700X in this very forum. I guess you'd have to like the look of it but what's not to like about 8000 mile service intervals, ABS as standard, 120 mph top end, 75 mpg and £5850 on the road? I like the ER6F myself but it's nothing new is it? Kawasaki make great engines that last forever but I reckon a Honda made in Japan will last a few more nasty winters than the Kwak. Hornet is a bit naked for all year use is it not?

Re: New bike time

I'm going for a test ride on the NC 700 myself as I do about 15-17k miles a year so it ticks a lot of boxes (as listed above). I have another wild card which I'm taking for a test ride too which I'll throw into the mix for your consideration. How about the DL650 v-strom? I can vouch these have a great engine (as I own a very similar SV) and they have great reviews on comfort so will eat up that 10000 miles a year. It's not as frugal as the Honda and would cost more to buy and run but it's a good alternative :-)

Im gonna test both to be certain, my head very much says the Honda, but who knows what the heart will say once ive ridden both haha

Best bet is to test as many alturnatives as possible as you never know what bike suits you till you try it
Good luck with your purchase
