Guzzi NTX
I would like to buy a Guzzi NTX with a 22000km trip in mind to fairly far off places where a normal dealer network will be unavailable. One of my concerns [apart from the small tank]is that in all the tests that I see of other new bikes eg 1200 Tenere -Ducatic Multistrada-BM GS the Guzzi doesnt get a mention as an alternative that could do the same job why is this ?
Heres my view as an ex Stelvio owner, now MTS1200 owner. My 07 manufacture Stelvio was one of the first bikes so it required the cam recall to be done. Apart from that in 25,000klm I had no "real" issues. Great bike and was purchased to see if I liked this adventure bike thing that everybody was talking about. After many years riding HD's it converted me. I fitted it with all the H&B luggage and took it from Singapore to Thailand 3 times, once to far Northern Thailand and never did it once let me down. Small things to look out for is they dont like water, never pressure wash it. Water gets down the plug leads and causes it to misfire, and the speedo sensor can let water in causing the speedo to stop working. All these have fixes that can be done at home and info is avilable on various websites. Just watch the O rings on the wheel spokes, they can leak very slowly but you will never get stuck with this. Be patient with it, most of the electrical gremlins will come and go on there own. I had the dash mirror itself (everything was backwards). Just turn it off / on and it comes back to normal again, same when it went all black, Off / On... fixed. But it NEVER stopped and let me down and has never been towed. Why did I change to the MTS1200, havent got time to explain,..gotta go for a ride.......
Ciao.....

As an ex owner of a stelvio unless you get a good knowledgeable dealer who can tune the guzzi I would not risk it. Unless you like to tinker. I found a 500 plus day and the Guzzi was begging for mercy. Engine screaming, electrics failing and 110- 120 miles fuel range would not give you confidence on a bike with just 6 K on the clock.
I think the NTX has a revised airbox to the stelvio but is basically the same apart from add ons. Great roarty bike when running right tedious piece of sh1t when going bad and boy there are plenty out there who don`t know how to look after them but will charge £300 for a 6k service. Harley don`t charge that.
I miss the rawness of the engine but side by side to a Gs not good enough but on a good day will still lag behind. Shame really but the money Guzzi don`t spend in comparison to Bmw really shows. Having said that the bmw has every chance of breaking down.
Sorry to be pesamistic Chipper
