Everyone I knew moaned about the new tests and I agree that it was stupid to go down the path they did. But having been riding for 30 years and seeing the trends NOW is the time for young people to get on two wheels.

if you are 17 cant afford a car (or the £2000 insurance ) think about this. You can buy a 125 cheap insure it for under £500 in most cases! you will need a cbt approx £100 -£130 and already you are 25% the way to passing your motorcycle test.

so you have transport already you are 25% the way to passing your motorcycle test.

next up book a theory test £31 practice with one of those discs on your pc and you shouldnt fail!! 50% the way to your motorcycle test .

take a look at all the videos online of the part1 motorcycle test and go somewhere and practice Module 1 then book it and take a punt on passing it £15.50 (wear hi viz and proper motocycle clothing when you go ) worst that can happen is you lose £15.50 and have to have another go.

2 choices now at this stage you can as some people have done just apply for your module 2 test and go for it or get a couple of days training. and there you have it 100% to your full( restricted licence ) as and when you can afford within a two year period.

the main gripe people had with the part one module is that it was more hassle and possibly dangerous - well lets put that to bed if you cant negotiate an obstacle at 33mph then you probably are not ready to ride on the road. And the doing all the exercises off road means things like the turn in the road emergency stop etc are a doddle Fail and all you lose is £15.50 and not the full test fee as you would have done when it was all done on the road.

after passing your test your 125 should serve as at least a good deposit for your next bike!!"
