Kevin...

You made the comment about the twitchiness of the throttle on the Ducati Monster 796 at low revs. You said that it was very uncharacteristic of the 'standard setting' fueling systems of all the other Ducatis.

I have to disagree with you on that statement. My 2007 ST3 was also twitchy at low revs, especially when doing turns off of a street onto an adjacent street. I would put my Duc into 1st gear just to keep the revs up! It was downright dangerous to guess whether you were going to be thrust upright from the throttle response, or wonder if any throttle at ALL was going to come into play. Hence, I kept it in 1st gear and not second. The later requiring playing on the clutch, with the accompanying paranoia mentioned of no throttle or too much.

Ducati had no answer. Oh, they said that's how a Duc runs!

I had an answer and a solution:

First - Bullshit.

Second - Put O2 sensor elliminators on the bike and WOW, problem solved.

You see, they starve their stock bikes with those damned exhaust lambda sensors. The O2 elliminators bypass them.

I suggest that your test ride on the Monster 796 suffers the same typical fate as all the rest of the Duc lineup, and it can be resolved by the above method without buying a Power Commander, or the Ducati HP exhaust kits and re-mappable ECU's.

Just an FYI from a Duc rider.

Also, Ducati wants to see how many buyers of the Monster lineup will kit them out for travel. They offer soft lugagge as an accessory, as does Givi. Givi and Puig also offer taller windscreens already.

Also, throttle cable adjustment should be made to futher enhance a smoother throttle response.
