The market looks stable, for on-road bikes, with huge growth for Ducati and decent growth for BMW and Harley Davidson too...

I guess if you only sold say 100 in one year and 110 the next it would look great on paper, percent wise. Stats, don't you just love them?
Captain, how the heck did Ducati have 'huge growth'? Not knocking Ducati, I'm a Ducati nut, but I'd really like to know. Any idea? Did they really take to the Diavel in their droves to achieve this?

Re: 2011 Sales in North America

The Ducati News site has just explained their growth expansion in the US:-
Ducati’s growth was fueled by an expanding product line-up, including the award-winning Diavel and Multistrada. Voted “Best Cruiser of 2011” by several motorcycle magazines, the Diavel accomplishes its goal of capturing and attracting new customers to the brand. The Multistrada, voted “Best Open Street Bike” by Cycle World for the second year in a row, continues to prove its adventure touring capabilities with the successful completion of the historical La Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico along with its second win of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Alan. I know of several local Diavel owners to me, so yes they really did! Supply of the popular Multistrada increased too, so that will have helped.

Growth is different to volume, I concur, but if you keep growing then sooner or later you are bigger than those in decline! More importantly you are doing the right things 'now'. ;-D
