Yamaha has a new sponsor for its 2012 MotoGP team.

After an unprecedented season in 2011 running as a world champion factory squad while failing to attract a major sponsor, Yamaha is being backed by a Japanese oil giant for MotoGP in 2012.

Lorenzo in Yamaha factory colours in 2011Lorenzo in Yamaha factory colours in 2011Yamaha Motor Co Ltd has announced the sealing of a deal with JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corporation, who are the official team sponsorfor the coming season. The partnership begins with a presentation on January 31 at Sepang, Malaysia, the venue of the first official test session of this year.

It’s not yet known which branding will be used, although JX is keen to promote its ENEOS brand which it associates with creativity and innovation as well as energy.
