A chain... not enoughA chain... not enoughThe product comes as a liquid which is dabbed on key components, giving them a unique identity which is stored on a centra database. It means even parts removed from a stolen bike can be positively identified and ownership proved, a major deterrent to thieves.

The retail value of the system is £30, and it comes with tamper-proof stickers warning potential thieves that the bike is coded in this way. Carole Nash has already highlighted that in the UK motorcycle scooter theft is on the increase, where car theft continues to fall.

Simon JacksonSimon JacksonAs Carole Nash’s commercial director Simon Jackson pointed out: “We are acutely aware of the financial and emotional cost of theft to bikers and indeed biking. A study recently estimated that theft costs the industry some £105m and reported evidence that around 40 percent of theft victims then go on to leave biking. That’s bad news not just for our business but for biking itself, so we see this very much as an investment and one that is well worth making.”
