Auction at Silverstone

Caroline Ash

On the 9th August 2013 keep your Friday night free and head down to Silverstone racetrack to bid in an auction in aid of the Kevin Ash Fund. A ride-in will take place into Silverstone and a commemorative lap will be open to anybody who wishes to take their bike around the circuit (but get your tickets quick because the spaces are limited). The auction will follow and then live music.

If you fancy getting your hands on Dani Pedrosa`s leathers, then this would probably be the place to be. These chances don`t come around often, and it`s definitely worth missing your Friday night pint and heading to Silverstone for such a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Other items for auction will be VIP tickets to various events and bike gear from well known brands such as Alpinestars. More information will be available at a later date, so watch this space.
Find out more details and buy your tickets here: Kevin's last lap at Silverstone, 9th August 2013.

Spread the word, tell your friends and organise some rides to the event. If you want to comment on the event itself, then post here. If you want to discuss or organise a ride then I've created a forum topic called 'Silverstone - 9th August' under Memorial run ideas.
Thanks
Mark

I have spoken to MCN who are organising the event. The 9th August is a track day at Silverstone, I believe. Our event will follow this, starting at 5 pm. All this is not confirmed, so I will post defined time etc when I know for sure.

I am looking at calendars and route planning etc so I can be there. It's a good haul from Prague but if I can make it then I shall. Ferry for an over night rest or channel tunnel and just get on with it?

Shuggie

I'm booked into the 'Snoozebox' which was quite reasonable ( £69). It's right at the circuit too.

Suzi Perry too - WooHoo!

cheers Navy Boy - I am looking into options at the moment. I also need to calculate the time required to get from Prague to England and the number of bum comfort breaks to be factored in.

Wish I could be there in person rather than sentiment, but I'm sure they'll be an excellent turnout, it'll be epic! :-D

Sorry about the leathers thing - Silverstone rules and non negotiable.

Hi, just read the leathers comment - is that an absolute must for the lap?

It is Silverstone's requirement that everybody who would like to take part in the Lap on the circuit must wear either a one piece leather suit or a leather jacket with zipped leather pant.
I do know that is perhaps not what some people want but unfortunately this is what is required.

I'll try to get there by 3pm however travelling from Gosport makes that a fairly tall order on a Friday.

Still promises to be a good event though, even if I don't get to do my lap.

It doesn't matter if you get there later. You will perhaps be on the later laps. The time had changed as briefing takes time and if people could get there by three o'clock there would be enough time to get all the laps in before the allocated time for riding is up.

Thanks to all that helped make the evening happen. I for one enjoyed it and I'm really looking forward to my Norton Factory tour which I managed to get.

Plus my Michael Rutter signed gloves fit perfectly so they'll be coming in handy too.

It was a great afternoon, evening and night. It was worth every one of the 2700km's in the round trip. My back tyre is now completely squared off but that is OK as it is due to be replaced anyway.

The event was great and I am so pleased that there was a good amount of money raised for Kevin and Caroline's three lovely daughters. As before I had a lump in my throat at a couple of moments in the event but it was a fitting tribute to our friend.

Thanks to everyone who made it happen and now enjoy some relaxing time !!

I am very pleased you had a good time. It certainly must have seem to like a marathon ride, coping with uncertain weather too.
Thank you very much for coming and taking part. It was a fantastic evening and the camping was great too.
Kevin would have been very proud and pleased with the event. For me and the girls it was emotionally hard and this event is even more of a closure. But as I am now back on a bike having not ridden a bike for 20 years it felt great having done the lap at Silverstone.
Al I need now is my own bike!
Thanks very much for coming.

Awesome achievement shuggiemac to ride all that way. Kevin would have been impressed. Thanks for putting your hand up at the auction too. Glad you made it safely back.

Keep an eye out here for some pictures and a bit of a write up, when we can get around to it.

Thanks for that but the pleasure was all mine, I am so glad that I went.

Met some great people and generally just laughed a lot - especially on the camp site. Every time I go camping I think I shall recall Mogs stories of his old neighbours - though perhaps it is best not repeated in a public forum!

I think that is a very wise move not to mention campsite talk in public. It was good fun to be repeated.

Thank you for coming and I hope you had a good time.
I definitely had a good time: doing the lap myself and then going pillion with Chad and Troy Corser flat out round the track must be experienced once in your life.
I am planning to come to Blade soon. I am looking to choose a bike for my self and I quite liked the Honda 500 you have in your shop, but I am still in the thinking stage.

Thank you Kirsten for the great write up and the photos.

I was sad I could only be there in spirit, but it looked a fantastic evening.

It must have been a lot of fun tinged with a lot of reflective emotions.

The bottom line is Caroline, that not only did you do Kevin's name proud, he would have been so very proud of you and his girls for arranging this very fitting tribute.

I take my fibreglass, kevlar, composite off to you.

Caroline, I am not so sure that Troy or Chad would find someone of my size as compliant a pillion as they did you. I am very envious that you got to do that. I have ridden quite a few tracks solo but it would be great to go round one with someone who really knows what they are doing.
